This weekend Sabrena will be heading out early in the morning for Mal's baby shower. Actually, she'll be putting it together and hosting Mal's baby shower. This means that I will hanging out at home - just me and the guys. Of course, by guys I means the boys plus their cousin Malakai (his mom is . . ..busy this weekend too.)
I know a lot my friends who are dads (and also a lot of dads who aren't friends) who stay at home with their kids always refer to it as babysitting the kids. I used to think that for them to use that term was ridiculous. It was as if when their wife was at home with their kids, its parenting or just being home with them. But if they have to stay at home alone while their wife goes somewhere, its babysitting. I've come to realize that this is probably the best term for them to use because I honestly believe that in their frame of mind, they don't plan on enjoying the time with their kids. Instead, they plan on thinking of all the things they could have planned to do or get done if they didn't have to be home and that frame of mind makes all the difference in the world.
So as I get my morning coffee ready and listen to all the kids (who got up this morning just before 6am) run around and shout, I will not be thinking about how I have to stay home and babysit today. No, instead I will just be hanging out at home with the boys, being dad - and parenting.
A weekend with the guys

It's FRIDAY!!
11:25 AM |
I love Fridays!! Especially when it feels like its been an extra loooong week. With the kids sick this week, and Gracie's sleep schedule off, I feel like this week has drug on and on. So I am thankful to have Friday here.
One of my favorite things about Fridays is the Finally Friday song that 94.1 plays at 5pm. The boys and I crank up the song nice and loud and dance around singing. It's a great start to the weekend. The neat thing is I remember my step dad playing that song for me and my sister when we were younger. It's a fun memory and hopefully the boys will share in that as well. If you haven't heard it, tune in and sing your heart out!
This weekend is going to be busy! I am throwing a shower for my sister. She's due to make me an auntie again here in the next couple weeks, although she is hoping sooner rather then later. So, we are doing the shopping for food and such tomorrow and the shower on Sunday. It should be a good time.
If you hadn't heard in the news, there was a women named Tanya Rider, from Maple Valley, that had been missing for a little over a week. She was found yesterday in her car that had crashed over an embankment. She was/is still alive, so be praying for her and her family. She is in critical condition in the hospital. Such an amazing story and my prayers go out to her and her family and friends.
Have a great weekend!
Blessings,
Sabrena

Breaking News!!!
UPDATES! The Theme...Firsts!
In the last month we have had the excitement of a lot of "firsts." Thanks to Chase's boss at work who did a raffle for Seahawks tickets, Chase and Connor got to experience their first Seahawks game at Qwest field. Connor was beyond excited to go and Chase said he was the best "12th MAN" in the whole area that they were sitting in. Even better the Seahawks won!
Connor had his first day of 3rd grade. I can't tell you how much it blows me away that my oldest boy is 8 and in 3rd grade. The day when that boy is taller then me is quickly approaching, not like thats hard, being taller, but its sad to think its right around the corner. And he thinks its funnier and funnier, while I try to hold back tears, it seems like just yesterday I was holding him in my arms. We were very blessed with another GREAT teacher, who is having a little girl in November named Isabelle. Pray for a safe and healthy delivery. Connor is off to a great start. We are hoping to get him involved with Boy Scouts, basketball in the winter, and karate.
